Amendment to School Rules- Section 10 (Motor Vehicles)

 

Previous Rules (as per School Website as at 28/1/15):

         (a)      Form Seven students are the only boys who may be permitted to bring motor cars or motor cycles into the School grounds.  All such students will be issued with an official school parking permit which must be displayed in their windscreen.  

         (b)      Any students wishing to bring motor cars to School are to register the same with the Deputy Headmaster and with the exception of Form Seven students must park in Clive Road and/or adjacent side roads.

         (c)      Any Form Seven student wishing to bring a motor cycle to School must bring a letter from his parent or guardian to the Deputy Headmaster granting parental approval and requesting the School’s permission.  Such permission shall be granted at the absolute discretion of the School and if granted upon such terms and conditions as the School sees fit to impose.

         (d)      Passengers are not permitted unless approval is granted by the Deputy Headmaster.

         (e)      Offences against traffic regulations may result in the removal of the right to bring the vehicle to School or to use it for a School activity.  Matters of this nature may be referred to the Police.

 

Amendment to Rules (approved by Headmaster and Board of Trustees 30/1/15; to be followed by updating on School website and Parking Permit forms):

         (a)      Form Six and Form Seven students with the appropriate Drivers’ Licence are the only students who may be permitted to bring motor vehicles to and from School.         

        (b)      Senior students wishing to bring a motor vehicle to School are to request the School’s permission by completing the appropriate application form, which must include a signature from their parent or guardian granting his/her approval. This form is to be handed in to the Deputy Headmaster (Senior School).         

        (c)      Such permission shall be granted at the absolute discretion of the School and, if granted, upon such terms and conditions as the School sees fit to impose.

        (d)      Passengers are not permitted unless approval is granted by the Deputy Headmaster (Senior School).

        (e)       Students must park in adjacent side roads. At no times are students to park in School carparks or in Barnett Crescent.

        (f)      Form Seven students may also park in the allocated parking of the astroturf carpark (off Normanby Road) and, once permission is granted, will be issued with an official School Parking Permit sticker, which must be clearly displayed on their windscreen (for motor cars) or handlebars (for motorcycles). 

        (g)      Students are not to return to their motor car or motorcycle or use it during the course of the School day unless they have prior written permission from a member of the Leadership Team (Associate Headmaster or Deputy Headmaster).

        (h)      Any acts of inappropriate or illegal driving may result in the removal of the right to bring the vehicle to School or to use it for a School activity.  Matters of this nature may be referred to the Police.
